The 8-year-old edition of Wild Turkey 101 has long been an export-only release — until April 2025, when it was introduced to the U.S. The flagship, non-age-stated 101 bourbon remains, and this 8-year-old counterpart is an extension of the portfolio.
Distilled from a mashbill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, this 8-year-old bourbon is bottled at 101 proof and retails for $45.
There’s no denying however that the 8 year old has more refinement to it — it’s increasingly divergent in the end — though it definitely has the classic rustic charm that make Wild Turkey so iconic.
It's a mystery (to me) why it seems the best of WT makes it overseas in its entirety, but overall, no complaints here. It's still great bourbon, it's not prohibitively expensive to bring into the U.S., and good turkey is great whiskey. Lovely stuff.
Wild Turkey 101 8 Year Old Bourbon offers a step up in quality with more distinct flavors and depth compared to the standard 101 Bourbon, though the price increase may not justify the incremental improvement overall.

House Review
Nose:
Beautiful baking spice, brown sugar, toffee, honey and a touch of orange peel, cracked pepper, and spice.
Taste:
Pleasant on the palate, moderate viscosity with a great deal of character. Maple, honey, toffee, sweet rye bread, a pinch of ginger and a whole lot of orange peel and pepper. Rich and fun, an easy sipper.
Finish:
Long finish that shines a bit compared to domestic 101 (no surprise there) with a good bit of oak, caramel, nutmeg, turtle candies and a wallop of baking spice.
Overall:
It's a mystery (to me) why it seems the best of WT makes it overseas in its entirety, but overall, no complaints here. It's still great bourbon, it's not prohibitively expensive to bring into the U.S., and good turkey is great whiskey. Lovely stuff.
