  • Widow Jane 10 Year has an enjoyable mouthfeel and flavor profile but just falls short, especially for the steep price of $70. Had this been bottled at cask strength, I personally think the experience would be totally different.

  • Widow Jane 10 Year Single Barrel is a good reminder that no matter how you start, it’s how you finish that’s remembered, and sadly this pour stumbles across the finish line.

  • The nose has notes of cocoa beans, dark chocolate, tobacco leaves, and molasses cookies.

Raided Score is a conversion from an external site's score, to our in house uniform scoring system. Please see the FAQ for more.

  • Nose:

Oak, honey, caramel and some vanilla. Mild tannins, but not too dry. No real ethanol. Lots of fruit here - mostly orange and pear with some faint banana. Overall, more sweet and fruity without being dry and oaky.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel. Bit of heat here, but not unreasonable. Oaky, some honey and caramel. Light apricot, some nice tannins. Fruitiness gives way here to more standard bourbon notes.

  • Finish:

Short. A bit hot here too. The bourbon notes give way to a lot of oak and orange peel. Confectioners sugar and bittering tannins.

  • Overall:

Not bad, but I'm not sure this blend of barrels is for me.
