This whiskey, launched in May 2023, comes to us from Outsiders Spirits, a new company co-founded by country music artist Eric Church. Whiskey JYPSI Legacy Batch 001 is a blended whiskey composed of 70% 7- and 8-year-old Indiana bourbon, 21% 20-year-old Canadian rye whisky and 9% 4-year-old Indiana single malt whiskey. Bottled at 115 proof and priced at $199.99, this looks to be a promising, intriguing blend. Let's dive in!

  • As entertaining as an Eric Church concert. Maybe more. One of the better celebrity whiskeys I’ve tasted to date.

  • Full of complexity and flavor, it's well blended and easy to drink and savor. It's a wild blend, but it works and it works well.

  • Nose:

Sweet butter and honey, surprisingly light but full of caramel, honey, sweet cream and rising bread with a salted caramel undertone.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate with an impressive blend of woodiness and tannin with salted caramel, red fruits like cherry and raspberry, pleasant tobacco and a nice balance of ethanol to flavor. Wow, this is complex. Impressive stuff!

  • Finish:

The finish is perhaps the best part of this whiskey. This really brings it all together with sweet, roasty malt tones, plenty of pleasant oak, toffee, crème brûlée and a touch of cocoa and vanilla bean.

  • Overall:

I love that on the surface, you have no idea this is a celeb whiskey. In the glass... you'd never know it, either. Full of complexity and flavor, it's well blended and easy to drink and savor. It's a wild blend, but it works and it works well.
