  • Nose:

Delicious nose. Tons of lovely typical Westward malt character with sherry layered on top. Lots of blackberry and creamy vanilla pudding, joined by clove.

  • Taste:

A moderate mouthfeel delivers more blackberry, plus tea, coffee grounds, tobacco, oak and tannin. This whiskey is a real treat. It's delightfully Westward, and the oloroso really adds to the experience without overwhelming the distillate.

  • Finish:

The finish is long with tobacco, oak, clove and blackberry.

  • Overall:

A delicious, totally distinctive single malt. It's fruity, smoky, spicy and just downright delightful. If anybody's doing American single malt better than Westward, it's a very short list.

  • Score:

    92
