  • Soft and silky on the palate, with raspberries, dark-chocolate cocoa powder, apple cider, and confectionery sweetness, with excellent balance against the oak.

  • A rest in stout casks gives this whiskey bold cocoa and hops aromas.

  • Nose:

Malty with plenty of fruitiness on the nose, alternating between crisp orchard fruit and a touch of bright tropical character: Apple, pear, blackberry, pear, papaya and honey.

  • Taste:

Malty and sweet on the palate, with a nice, oily viscosity. This is really well balanced. Soft oak plays with tobacco, mango, clove, grape leaves and menthol

  • Finish:

The stout influence has been subtle up until this point, but this is where it really shines through, imparting roasty goodness. The finish is earthy and medium in length. A big tobacco note strikes, joined by tea, oak, vanilla, almond, coffee grounds, Tootsie Rolls and barrel char.

  • Overall:

This is a very pleasant, balanced release from one of the best single malt producers in America. It's not my favorite among the Westland portfolio, but it's a great malt with solid complexity.
