Volcan de Mi Tierra Blanco Tahona is an unaged blanco tequila made at Agrotequilera de Jalisco (NOM 1523) in Huaxtla, Jalisco. It is made from 100% blue Weber agave crushed with a two-ton volcanic stone tahona wheel, fermented in wooden tanks and double distilled in copper pot stills. It is bottled at 40% ABV in the US and sells for around $120 to $150.
On the palate, there’s definitely more going on to write home about. While the herbal-pepper notes continue dominance, they manage to be softened by a lovely note of creamy almond butter, vanilla, a touch of lemon curd, and finally a bit of coconut.
