  • Nose:

Malty, yeasty and oily nose — very classic Virginia Distillery. That profile is joined by very classic stout notes: big espresso, dark chocolate and a pinch of chili powder. It’s a straightforward nose; precisely what you’d expect.

  • Taste:

Oily mouthfeel. Flavor profile develops slowly: vanilla, oak, char, walnut, figs, chocolate covered cherries, espresso and a pop of bubblegum sweetness.

  • Finish:

The finish is rich to start and medium in length: big coffee note plus dark chocolate, vanilla wafers, almonds and then a bit of char. It concludes with coffee grounds and a pinch of cinnamon.

  • Overall:

A delicious, chocolatey malt from one of America's eminent single malt producers. This is a great whiskey befitting its name. The barrel finish works really nicely to complement the base spirit. It’s not too complex, but it’s very pleasant, balanced and easy to enjoy. Any fan of dark chocolate/coffee flavor profiles should adore this.
