  • Nose:

Very Virginia Distillery-coded on the nose, with lots of orchard fruit and malty and yeasty character. Apples and pears rum amok, joined by bright orange juice, a whiff of almonds and, after a while, maple

  • Taste:

Stout character arrives on the palate in a fun way, joined by a little bit of heat. It's still classic Virginia Distillery Co. Malt with orchard fruit and another blast of orange, but the stout casks have a lot to say here, offering up roasty coffee, dark chocolate and almonds, plus barrel char, tobacco and a light chili pepper note.

  • Finish:

Stout-heavy finish with big notes of dark chocolate and coffee, plus tobacco and cinnamon. Think Mexican hot chocolate with a shot of espresso.

  • Overall:

I like this a lot. The coalescence of Virginia Distillery's light and bright whiskey and Goose Island's dark and brooding barrels makes for a fun pour that's easy to enjoy.
