Released in January 2026, TX Whiskey Experimental Series: Vino de Naranja is the 15th release in the Experimental Series from the Fort Worth, Texas-based Firestone & Robertson Distillery.

This is a blend of 5-year-old straight rye whiskey and bourbon that was finished for three years in casks that contained Vino de Naranja — Spanish orange wine. Only 1,500 bottles of TX Whiskey Vino de Naranja were released at the brand's Fort Worth distillery, Whiskey Ranch. The expression has a suggested retail price of $39.99 per 375-milliliter bottle.

“Vino de Naranja embodies everything we aim to capture in a unique Experimental Series,” said Craig Blair, Head Blender at TX Whiskey. “This blend honors Mediterranean winemaking traditions while telling a Texan story of endurance and the uncompromising character of our land in every sip.”

  • The distillery recommends sipping this over ice or in a summer drink, but I think it’s a really nice whiskey to drink neat, and at 83.5 proof that is a feat easily accomplished.

  • A very tasty blend from TX that leaves me with just one complaint: I wish it was proofed higher.

  • Nose:

Lovely nose full of orange sherbet, vanilla frosting and butterscotch, plus some black cherry.

  • Taste:

The palate leads with ginger, cinnamon and black tea, then moves into a profile of barrel char, mesquite, vanilla and a nice creamy orange note.

  • Finish:

The finish opens with a smoky oak note and then trails into pumpkin bread, plum and Creamsicle.

  • Overall:

A very tasty blend from that leaves me with just one complaint: I wish it was proofed higher. At just shy of 42% ABV, it’s a bit watery, but in spite of that there are some great creamy, decadent notes going on here. Even with that said, it still may be my favorite expression I've tasted from TX Whiskey. And the low proof does have its perks, making this a light, easy sipper that still packs in plenty of flavor. If you find yourself in Fort Worth, check out Whiskey Ranch, which is well worth a visit, and taste this, which is well worth sipping.
