Tomatin 14 Year Old Port Casks is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky matured in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in tawny port casks that previously held port for around 50 years. It is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration and typically retails for around $90.
Tomatin 14 year old Portwood Finish works nicely, with good interplay between fruity character and hefty spicing. A drop of two of water (no more please!) is just enough to take reduce the tannins at play here, resulting in well balanced dram quite suited to enjoying after-dinner on a cool autumnal night.
