  • Tincup Rye is a whiskey that goes for drinkability above all else. For anyone that is shy about transitioning from bourbon to rye, Tincup Rye would be a great place to start. It’s a rye that still features rye’s traditional spice and heat, but offers it up in a much more mellow way.

  • The finish is nutty and quite spiced, with lingering blackberries and a touch of bitter oak.

  • I recommend this one as it would be good to mix and good to drink on it's own. Tin Cup even recommends using it for an Old Fashioned.

  • The taste has good spicy notes of clove, cinnamon, and allspice complemented by sweeter notes of honey, vanilla, and brown sugar underneath. The finish is long with lingering spices.

  • Not overwhelmingly complex, but this is a fine rye. It could use some more age, but for its age, it's not overtly youthful, even if it is a little pedestrian.

  • Nose:

Light and effervescent. A bit of heat, some spearmint and apple.

  • Taste:

Thin to medium mouth feel. It's definitely rye, albeit a light one. Apples, pears, clove and rye spice come together with a faint pinprick of ethanol.

  • Finish:

Short finish. A bit hot, but some nice pepper, clove, brown sugar and a hint of apple.

  • Overall:

Not overwhelmingly complex, but this is a fine rye. It could use some more age, but for its age, it's not overtly youthful, even if it is a little pedestrian.
