  • Orion isn't as earthy as other corn varietals like bloody butcher but the blue corn does make it stand out a bit from other bourbons. However, the corn could come through stronger, as the oak steals the show with its wood spice and vanilla presence.

  • Nose:

Distinctly woody, with rich notes of dates. A buttery character swirls together with sweet aromas of caramel corn, vanilla and brown sugar.

  • Taste:

Dry and assertive, with a strong presence of wood spice. Vanilla carries through to the palate, followed by a touch of mesquite honey that adds depth without cloying sweetness. A subtle nuttiness is found.

  • Finish:

Slightly bitter on the finish with notes of walnut, cloves and allspice. There is a pepperiness that lingers past the nuttiness.

  • Overall:

Orion isn't as earthy as other corn varietals like bloody butcher, but the blue corn does make it stand out a bit from other bourbons. However, the corn could come through stronger, as the oak steals the show with its wood spice and vanilla presence.
