Three Chord Whiskey Drummer 15 Years is a limited release Kentucky straight bourbon from Neil Giraldo's boutique whiskey brand. It's made from sourced barrels with a mash bill of 78.5% corn, 12.5% rye and 9% malted barley. The whiskey is bottled non-chill filtered at barrel proof, with batches varying between 107.4 and 117.9 proof. A bottle sells for around $189-200.
Gently smoky but punchy with character, it’s a whiskey that demands attention — and a little water. At full strength the palate is almost a full-on overload of burnt caramel, more of that woody barrel char, and a thick layer of spice that just doesn’t let up. It’s effusive, but a bit much — unsurprising given the abv — and water tempers things nicely.
Tingly - oak-forward, still cognac-y flavored with creamy and peppery oak notes, on the edge of woody without going over. Mouthfeel is creamy and medium-bodied, oak spice without the astringency. The vinous flavors really start to power through, mostly fresh and a little artificial.
