Distilled and bottled by Barton 1792 in Bardstown, Kentucky, this bourbon is aged 5-6 years in new oak and then undergoes a lengthy finishing period of 2-4 years in Cognac casks. Thomas S. Moore, who built the distillery today known as Barton 1792, is the namesake of this line of whiskeys. Each bourbon in this series is distilled from Barton's signature high-rye bourbon recipe.

Lush and sweet, the nose is loaded with fresh cream, sweet honey, rich tobacco, deep fruit like blackberry and currant as well as a pop of sweet oak and fresh cracked pepper.
Rich on the palate, the cognac shines up front adding a good bit of soft fruit, rich character and pipe tobacco notes alongside classic notes of barrel char, cream and cocoa, root beer candies and blackberry reduction on the back palate.
Long finish that’s decadent and layered, the Cognac here is noticeable and blends so nicely with the bourbon character for a long finish full of ginger, tobacco and toffee, sweet cream and a pinch of pepper.
Easily my favorite of the recent Thomas Moore’s, it goes to show just how complementary cognac finishing can be with the right bourbon and the right maturation
