The Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin, produced by a spirits brand owned by Sam Heughan, is made with a blend of botanicals inspired by the actor's hometown, Galloway. With this in mind, the "Outlander" star selected crabapple, rhubarb, toasted oats, heather, pine resin, bramble leaf, blueberry and juniper as his 42%-ABV gin’s key botanicals. But does this gin have the chops to stand out in a sea of subpar celebrity-backed booze? Let's find out.

Lovely and bright on the nose, full of juniper, honey, berries, citrus and a hint of minerality and char. Fresh, fruity, citrus-y and fun.
Complex on the palate, lots going on. Juniper first, citrus like lime pops. Light bit of char, tons of fruit and a hint of creamy sweetness.
Long finish, Fuji apple, pear and lime pop first with a hint of cream and minerality on the finish.
A really killer gin. This goes far beyond some pretty bottle or a celeb endorsement. It’s great gin first with a pretty bottle and celebrity figure second. Great stuff.
