Distilled in 1978 at an undisclosed Cuban distillery, this rum was bottled by The Whisky Jury as part of its “Many Faces of Rum” series. Aged for 44 years in a combination of tropical and continental climates, it was drawn from a single cask and bottled at natural cask strength of 56.6% ABV.
This is an excellent rum. It leans heavily into the savory flavor profile in all the best ways. Espresso, dark chocolate, leather, at ouch of sweetness to balance it out. I was shocked at how good this rum is and I would happily drink it all the time. It is not over-oaked to me and is something that is both comforting and interesting.
