The Macallan A Night on Earth The Journey is a limited edition single malt scotch whisky aged in first-fill American ex-bourbon barrels and European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks. Bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml format, it is part of the annual A Night on Earth series. The release features multi-layered packaging created in collaboration with Chinese artist Nini Sum and draws on themes of New Year traditions and reunion.
This ended up being decent with some fun citrus-y notes throughout but pretty far from being something particularly exciting. It is a bit warm, though easy to drink, which suggests that this is probably fairly young whisky being sold at a premium. As thankful as I am for this gift, ultimately if you strip away the fancy packaging, it really falls short of where it should be for the price. Classic Macallan.
