  • Pleasant but a touch one-dimensional. A bit more oak and some proof would bump this up nicely in complexity.

  • The smoke is barely there until the finish, which is generously fruity with gentle woodsmoke and fresh herbal notes.

  • Nose:

Orange peel, rose water, sweet oak, light peaty smokiness and lots of minerality. Not too smoky, peaty or ashy, pleasant and sweet.

  • Taste:

Moderate palate, sweet honey, citrus, lime, orange peel, toffee and some minerality.

  • Finish:

Moderate finish, vanilla, orange peel, some minerality, light peaty smoky. The peat here is more minerality and light ash, less medicinal or briney than the Yamazaki.

  • Overall:

Pleasant but a touch one-dimensional. A bit more oak and some proof would bump this up nicely in complexity.

  • Score:

    85
