  • The palate is well-spiced and mouthwatering with cinnamon, vanilla frosting, and berries; the finish turns darker while deliciously trailing off to dark chocolate and honey

  • The ginger notes are definitely noticeable, but far from overwhelming or tasting artificial. This is a bottle worth grabbing in any season, but it’s perfect for autumn.

  • Flavorful and delicious, a long sipper that plays to the beat of its own drum; would be cool in an Old Fashioned.

  • Nose:

Really interesting, rich nose. Classic VDC profile is here but joined by plenty of stout character — dark-chocolate covered almonds, cream, coffee, chili powder, graham cracker and ginger

  • Taste:

Layered, complex palate. Plenty of oak, char, dry tannin and walnut kicks things off, followed by a sweeter profile of caramel and sugar cookies. Then, that spice from the nose kicks in with chili, cinnamon and powdered ginger, followed by a beautiful espresso note

  • Finish:

Medium finish with dark chocolate and more cinnamon and espresso.

  • Overall:

Delightful single malt that I'm really enjoying. Virginia Distillery Company continues to be rock solid.

  • Score:

    88
