The Week of Peat honors former distillery manager Ian Millar and the team that first ran a full week of peated production at The Balvenie in 2002. A 14-year-old single malt from Dufftown, bottled without chill filtration at 48.3% ABV, it’s one of three Stories releases launched in May 2019.

  • The palate follows along on this trend, teeing off with loads of sweet smoke before letting at least a little fruit push its way to the fore. Here we get notes of overripe apple, red berries, and some melon notes, and they’re particularly heavy on the finish… at least until the smoke returns.

  • The peat impact is relatively restrained and doesn't kick in until the finish. A splash of water unlocks espresso and vanilla sweetness, plus clove and black pepper.
