The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland. It matures first in American oak barrels, then in European oak sherry casks, and is bottled at 43% ABV in a 750 ml format.
This older version has a more pronounced oaky side, with more spices. I love its bright and balanced nose, but the oaky tang on the palate makes it feel a little engineered and makes it loose a few points. Around € 110.
Redolent of honey and fresh apple, this double wood (American oak and Sherry cask) whisky is rich and slightly viscous on the palate, showing a deep crème brûlée note laced with zesty lemon peel and ginger.
