  • Bourbon influence galore! There's plenty of cinnamon and clove, Werther's hard candies, black pepper, dried apricots and honey. The oak influence carries through but doesn't overwhelm. All said and done, it's quite sweet.

  • It's a touch sweet on the tongue with a medium full body that becomes thinner on the midpalate with the higher proof. The bourbon flavors come through on the finish, but don't stick around much but that's not a bad thing.

  • Nose:

A lot more minerality than I was expecting. Vanilla, rose petals and roasted agave combine with a kick of salinity that pricks the nose. Perhaps due to the higher-than-usual proof point.

  • Taste:

Bourbon influence galore! There's plenty of cinnamon and clove, Werther's hard candies, black pepper, dried apricots and honey. The oak influence carries through but doesn't overwhelm. All said and done, it's quite sweet.

  • Finish:

That minerality from the nose comes back around for the finish. Black pepper and spearmint dominate.

  • Overall:

A great addition to the distiller's portfolio. I've had better from Tequila Ocho, but that's an impossibly high bar to surpass. If you've got a few dollars to spare, this is a nice level up beyond the brand's regular añejo.
