  • Layered with complexity, orange-forward but with an earthy maturity and a tempered bitterness, married with a touch of honeyed sweetness. The spice awakens every nook and cranny of your mouth, with a lengthy peppery linger that taunts the remaining contents of your glass to come join in.

  • This is pretty solid for a non-alc spirit, which in my experience are usually pretty terrible, to be frank

  • Overall, this makes for a great addition to your backbar, and will work wonders in an NA tropical libation, or alternative to the ubiquitous Jager shot. Well done.

  • Nose:

Ginger, lemon, Pine-Sol, honey. Not a bad nose. I'm intrigued!

  • Taste:

Raw ginger dominates here, joined by some lemon. Very light sweetness is present — but not present enough to combat ginger and intense bitter gentian character.

  • Finish:

The finish is bitter and spicy. Usually, when talking whiskey or other spirits reviews, "spicy" means baking spice notes. In this case, it means actual pepper-hot spiciness, which hangs around for a while. Interesting!

  • Overall:

Non-alc spirits and aperitifs don't always work for me, but this one's not bad. It could use some more sweetness to balance out the bitterness, but it's interesting, spicy and fairly complex. I could see it being mixed up in a fun non-alc spicy marg.
