This extra-rare Irish whiskey from Teeling spent 30 years aging in ex-rum casks before being finished for three years in casks that previously contained Pineau des Charentes, a French aperitif. Only 316 bottles of this whiskey were produced, and they're priced well over $3,000 each.

Fruit-forward and rich on the nose. Apple, pears, honey, some pound cake and a beautiful almond and brioche note.
Pleasant palate. Peach rings and honey lead, followed by a touch of nougat, honey, toffee and some light pepper. Moderate oak structure, a good bit going on. Moderate mouthfeel.
Long finish, full of peach rings from top to bottom. Honey, caramel, peach, tobacco and maple meet that brioche and almond character from the nose.
This is a very nice release! Enjoyable, complex and fun, this pour shows complexity without overwhelming oak and also highlights a finishing cask we don’t often see.
