Olde Saint’s Keep is a limited annual release from Talnua Distillery in Arvada, Colorado. The 2025 edition, made in the Irish pot still style, was triple distilled from a mash of 50 percent malted and 50 percent unmalted barley. It aged 2 years and 6 months in ex-bourbon barrels with French and American oak staves, then spent 2 years and 3 months in casks that previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry for 17 years and PX solera brandy from 1948 for 13 years. Bottled at 100 proof with a final age of 4 years and 9 months, it was released only at the distillery in a run of fewer than 1,000 bottles.

  • A malt aged in ex-bourbon and port casks and finished in Pineau des Charentes casks results in a complex pour and a winning combination.

  • Rich, delicious, and excellent for sipping. This is bottled at the proof around which adding a drop or two of water is understandable to open it up, but I found the density of flavor in a full-strength pour to be preferable.
