Takamine Sakura Cask Whiskey is a Japanese whisky produced at Shinozaki Distillery in Asakura, Fukuoka, Japan. Distilled from barley and barley koji, it is aged for about seven years and finished for one year in hybrid casks made from American white oak and sakura wood sourced from the Shinozaki family’s cherry trees. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 720 ml format, it typically retails for around $115. Brand tasting notes describe a bouquet of fruit, spice and floral aromas, with a palate of persimmon, stone fruit, brown sugar and cherry cola, finishing with lingering cherry blossom notes.
