Taconic Distillery's Founder's Rye Whiskey is aged in virgin American white oak barrels and bottled at 45% ABV. The whiskey is made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It sells for around $40.
This is a fine sipping Rye, and a wonderful addition to the expanding variety of young Rye whiskeys coming from America’s small, independent distillers.
It’s a nice sipper, but it can also be used interchangeably with any mainstream rye in cocktails — although you probably wouldn’t normally choose to pay this much for a rack cocktail rye.
