House Review

Nose:
Sweet grassy cane notes shine through the slight rubber aromas often found in estery cane spirits. There are notes of ripe papaya, pineapple leaves and tropical fruit intermingling with faint herbaceous notes like mint.
Taste:
There is a pleasant mouthfeel that coats the palate. Notes of floral honey and overripe fruit take center stage while savory grassy notes fade into the background.
Finish:
The rum briefly departs with a distinct honeyed dried fruit note reminiscent of dates.
Overall:
Sugarfield Spirits Experimental Series Batch 8 is a great example of a Louisiana agricole style rum. The rum can stand up to a cocktail but is also pleasant in and of itself. If you want to see what American rum has to offer in terms of sugar cane based spirits then Louisiana is where to begin.
