Distilled by Stranahan's and aged for "5 to 10 years" - this is the 25th iteration of their Snowflake Limited Edition, this time named for Humboldt Peak. Each release features a mountain that's 14,000ft or higher - a Fourteener, if you will - to solidify the naming convention of the release. Each is finished in a variety of wine casks and dessert wine casks like port and sherry, but no breakdown is made available for this release. Let's dive in.

Beautifully rich, full of caramel apple, cherry pie, honey, nougat and a touch of toffee and light oak.
The palate is medium viscosity, full of graham cracker, toffee, some honey and more light cherry character. Proofed nicely, it's not a viscosity monster, but it also drinks easily and effortlessly, with plenty of interesting character.
Long finish, this seems to be where the pour shines. Honey, graham cracker, sweet oak and a toffee pudding note roll through with a touch of fruits and light pepper. It's really interesting how much cherry is coming through on this release, and it just works with Stranahan's distillate.
Overall, this is one of the better Stranahan's releases I've had. While some will no doubt wish this was proofed higher, 47% is a reasonable proof point for this American Single Malt - it manages to hold up a pleasant mouthfeel and plenty of flavor, while remaining an easy sipper. Overall, it's a unique and interesting pour with plenty of flavor to stay interesting.
