Set to release in the spring of 2025, Stranahan's Founder's Release is a 12-year-old American single malt released to celebrate 20-plus years of Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey, which was founded in 2004, and the recent ratification of the American Single Malt Whiskey category by the TTB. The whiskey is primarily aged in new oak barrels, as is typical of Stranahan's products. Most of the blend is unfinished 12-year-old whiskey, but a "small portion" was finished for 1-4 years in barrels that were previously used to age bourbon and blonde ale. Bottled at 120 proof, this single malt has a suggested retail price of $199.99.

Powerful, distinctive and bold nose. A big sourdough vibe mingles with a major blackberry note. Oak, cinnamon rolls, white chocolate, walnuts, praline and clove fill in the background.
The palate is oaky, a bit tannic and very tasty with a solid dose of heat. Pecan pie, praline, Dr. Pepper, cinnamon, clove and tobacco.
Really cool finish that goes in a wildly different direction. It's earthy, umami and oaky with a sort of mushroomy character reminiscent of an amontillado sherry. Tobacco, cinnamon sugar, big-time clove and a hint of lime zest.
Bruising, powerful single malt that strikes some gorgeous notes. Complex and exquisitely balanced, Stranahan's Founder's Release is a masterful American single malt.
