Stonestreet Founder’s Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a high-wheat bourbon distilled at Green River Distillery in Owensboro, Kentucky, using a mashbill of 70% corn, 21% wheat and 9% malted barley. Aged five years and bottled at 47% ABV, it retails for around $60.
The palate opens drying and spicy, showing off lots of cayenne and cinnamon fireworks, before fading into smooth vanilla. Hints of toasted almond and mocha mark the lip-smacking finish.
The whiskey makes for an easy drinker at 94 proof, and is very approachable. It’s not a starter bourbon, but it’s approachability should help it appeal to a wide range of American whiskey fans.
