Smirnoff Vodka is distilled in Plainfield, Illinois, for the U.S. market from corn. It is triple-distilled and filtered 10 times using charcoal. The brand was originally founded by P.A. Smirnov in 1864 and reintroduced in Europe by his son Vladimir after the Russian Revolution under the name Smirnoff.
The Smirnoff goes down smoothly with a bit of spiciness tapping the tonsils, and just a touch of creeping burn or warmth in the throat. The aftertaste carries a bit of lemon-like flavour, and again my impression is that the Smirnoff is much more pleasant than others have reported.
For such a mass-produced product to maintain quality this high, well, it’s no wonder Bond is still sipping it even though he can afford far more expensive stuff.
