  • All told, this is a fairly uncomplicated, rather sweet Irish whiskey that would pair nicely with dessert as an after dinner dram.

  • Overall, this is just fine. It meets or beats most of its compatriots in the young, blended, Irish category bottled at 40% and that does just fine here.

  • There’s nothing technically wrong or off with the Slainte Irish Whiskey, it’s a dead-center-middle-of-the-road whiskey, with a unique buttercream note, but it’s not exactly standing out in the category.

  • One of the better whiskeys I’ve seen released by a famous person entering the world of spirits. Certainly worth trying if you enjoy sweeter Irish whiskey, and you get the bonus of contributing money to Ukraine.

  • Nose:

Sweet but thin and pleasant. Apples, pears, honey and toffee are found throughout.

  • Taste:

Rising bread, honey, slivered almonds, toffee. An unexpected pop of ethanol despite the low proof, and the profile shifts to focus more on dessert rather than fruit.

  • Finish:

Light oak and caramels on the finish. Short finish, it's easy and clean although not particularly memorable.

  • Overall:

Overall, this is just fine. It meets or beats most of its compatriots in the young, blended, Irish category bottled at 40% and that does just fine here.
