Shirakawa 1958 is a Japanese single malt from the now-demolished Shirakawa Distillery in Fukushima Prefecture, about 200 kilometers north of Tokyo. Built in 1939, the distillery used local unpeated barley fermented for five days with wine yeast and matured mainly in 50-liter mizunara oak barrels, with this release bottled at 49% ABV and priced at £25,000.
