Monster character on the nose, full of spicy baking spices, oak, tobacco, sweet vanilla cream and tons of maple, raisin and caramel. Oh, baby.
Rich on the palate, viscous and powerful. Tasting blind, 9 years would be easy to mistake for 11 or 12; there's a lot going on here. This whisky has plenty of oak and great structure. It's easy to enjoy with that sneaky 130-plus proof. Tons of baking spice. More maple decadence and pleasant tobacco. Baked apple and nutmeg.
Long finish. Rich and powerful once again, it carries for a great long while, packing together killer maple, tobacco and baking spice once more.
This release is a doozy, and it's easy to put neck and neck with Seelbach's 15 Year releases from 2022. It's nuanced, bold, full of quintessential bourbon character, and the finish sings all while sneaking by at beyond 130 proof. Killer.
