Scallywag is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Douglas Laing & Co. made with Speyside single malts, including whisky from Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes distilleries. The whisky is matured in Spanish sherry butts with some bourbon hogsheads, bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added color.
Flavors seem to tumble over one another. Smokiness leads on the palate, followed by richer notes of vanilla, rounded caramel, nutmeg, a touch of lemon cream, then campfire smoke again on the exit.
