  • Flavor and mouthfeel are also subtle, sometimes too much so; while there are lovely floral and fruit notes, along with spices, pistachio, toasted grain, and orange oil, a bit more amplitude would go a long way.

  • Nose:

Toffee, pepper, some faint oak, honey and a touch of sour funk. Pepper, a bit of rising bread, vanilla bean.

  • Taste:

Caramel, honey, light oak. Thin on the palate, no heat, there’s a bit of honey, almonds, some sweet vanilla. Overall, not wildly complex, but it’s pleasant.

  • Finish:

Short to medium finish. Light on ethanol, light on oak. Toffee, some vanilla bean, light barrel char and baking spice.

  • Overall:

Burning Chair sits on the cusp of being a really enjoyable whiskey. All it needs is a touch more time in the barrel.
