Santa Teresa 1796 Triple Aged Solera Rum is a Venezuelan rum aged using the solera method, which mimics traditional Spanish sherry production. It blends light, heavy and pot still rums aged separately from 4 to 35 years. An updated packaging was released to mark the brand’s 225th anniversary.
This expression tastes like a very old rum without the musk and oak, instead offering bigger fruit flavors. For the price, this is a must-grab bottle that can be used in cocktails and is excellent for sipping neat.
The profile runs woody and spiced with notes of leather, apple, pear, honey, dark chocolate, tobacco. While I’m more of a Martinique/agricole and funky rum lover, this remains a classic example of Venezuelan rum with its new packaging elevating the rum.
