San Cosme Mezcal Joven is produced in Oaxaca, Mexico, from 100% Espadín agave. The brand was founded by Gernot Allnoch and childhood friends Erik Lozano, and José Julián Carrera in 2010. It is distilled twice, bottled at 40% ABV and sells for around $39.
The lemony fragrance includes a warm almond hint. Gentle brown sugar tones are lifted by a sprinkle of savory spices: cinnamon, clove, cayenne, finishing long and mouthwatering
The aroma bursts forth with flinty generality, dry spice, and a hint of smoke. On the palate, delicate layers of rose petal intertwine with soft, smoky undertones, leading to a complex finish of pungent diesel and waxy notes.
