Produced in San Antonio, Texas, Samuel Maverick Barrel-Aged Rum is crafted from Colombian Panela cane sugar and molasses fermented in-house. After being distilled on a hybrid copper pot and column still, the rum is charcoal-filtered. It is then aged for 3 years and 10 months in a 30-gallon charred oak whiskey barrel, previously used for Maverick Whiskey, and matures in the distillery’s subterranean bank vault.

  • Samuel Maverick Barrel Aged rum is a fantastic sipper and a great showing of the distillery's aging process. It's an easy sipper but maintains a strong character and can hold up to being in a cocktail as well.

  • Nose:

There is something very classically rum about the nose. It has notes of toffee, brown sugar and vanilla but with a bright citrusy hit. After letting it breathe it begins to develop a sweeter more syrupy quality to the aroma.

  • Taste:

On the palate it starts out light and bright but that quickly develops in to a chewy mouthfeel with tons of sweet caramel notes. The bourbon barrels come through with hints of vanilla and wood spice.

  • Finish:

It lingers on the palate with a zesty finish that has a slight savory pepperiness.

  • Overall:

Samuel Maverick Barrel Aged rum is a fantastic sipper and a great showing of the distillery's aging process. It's an easy sipper but maintains a strong character and can hold up to being in a cocktail as well.
