Sagamore Spirit Distiller’s Select Tequila Finish Rye is a limited release straight rye whiskey finished in extra añejo tequila barrels after aging 4 to 5 years. It is bottled at 98 proof.
There's more citrus on the palate in the form of tart key lime pie, along with roasted pecans and chocolate-covered cherries. The finish is balanced and flavor-forward with pronounced rye grain and chocolate. Inventive but too grainy.
The finish offers an herbal-grassy side with agave syrup and lemongrass, as well as orange zest, and maple. The tequila's impact at times overshadows the whiskey itself."
