Released in October 2024, Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Collection, Camp Nelson B is the third release within the brand's Single Rickhouse Collection. This bourbon clocks in at 120.2 proof, making it the highest-proof whiskey to ever release from Russell's Reserve. Master Distiller Eddie Russell shares this whiskey matured on the sixth floor of Camp Nelson Rickhouse B, and the increased elevation and greater sun exposure yielded a bourbon with a higher proof.

  • This is a really delightful whiskey that is hard to put down — especially when it’s been tempered with a healthy splash of water, and it stands alongside Camp Nelson C as co-favorites of the series.

  • Probably my favorite Single Rickhouse so far, it’s the opposite of snoozy and instead full of character, complexity, and decadence.

  • While I sat and drank this bottle of Single Rickhouse CN-B, I felt like there were some similarities to Wild Turkey Generations – a bottle that cost $150 more. The high proof of both gives it an extra boost of flavor and elevates the experience to heights that regular Russell’s Reserve Single Barrels rarely achieve. However, the Single Rickhouse had a better cohesiveness to the profile than what I found in Generations.

  • This is, simply put, delicious whiskey. It’s another fantastic Russell’s release, the latest from a brand that seems to get an extra base hit almost every time it steps to the plate.

  • Nose:

Huge brown sugar, some honey, bit’o’honey candy. Toffee, orange peel, big spice and a hint of blueberry and date. Light cola character.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel, satisfying richness. Hint of bitterness, loads of honey, toffee, butter cream and more blueberry, cola and crackle of pepper.

  • Finish:

Long oaky, fruity, finish that’s loaded with vanilla bean, berries, toffee, orange peel and some funky peppery spice.

  • Overall:

Probably my favorite Single Rickhouse so far, it’s the opposite of snoozy and instead full of character, complexity, and decadence.

  • Score:

    88
