The nose has that classic dusty wild turkey profile dialed up and joined by cornbread, gingerbread and sweet tea. It’s a dark and restrained nose but lightens up with a sugary profile of butterscotch and sugar cookie after a bit of air
Moderately mouth coating viscosity. Some heat, but manageable for the proof. Dusty Oak leads the palate, with tannin, black tea, coffee beans and barrel char, followed by cornbread, orange peel, cherries, dark chocolate, tobacco and chili powder.
The finish is long, opening with sawdust and walnuts, then gives you tootsie rolls, tobacco, almonds and sea salted dark chocolate to chew on.
A delicious bourbon that’s not overwhelmingly complex but is enjoyable easy-drinking. This is a bourbon that knows what it’s about and stays in its lane. It’s oak-forward, drinks very cohesively and has a nice profile of tobacco, tea and dark chocolate. Fans of darker, oakier bourbons will love this.
