Roots Kanela is a Greek herbal liqueur flavored with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and citrus, based on a 15th-century tentura recipe from the Ionian Islands. Bottled at 24% ABV, it typically retails for about $40–46. It is produced by Callicounis Distilleries, founded in Kalamata in 1850 and considered Greece’s oldest continuously operating distillery.
