Rick’s Original is a low-strength non-alcoholic pilsner from Rick’s Near Beer, brewed with malted barley, American hops and mountain water. It contains less than 0.5% ABV and is sold in six-packs for $10.
A clear, crispy, easy drinking lager without the alcohol. Looks the part with a golden body and fluffy white head, a slight overcooked grain and hop note creeps in now and again towards the finish.
It remains to be seen whether a product like Rick’s will resonate with the consumer, and whether its unusual imagery (for the NA market) will help it discover some kind of niche that hasn’t already been exploited. But when it comes to the beer in the can, it’s a more than promising first expression.
