  • The nose is a journey on its own, first giving off strong scents of pomegranate and burnt sugar before settling a bit to reveal additional notes of pie crust and molasses and then, boom, there’s some breadiness and chalkiness to the aroma, like a cinnamon roll left beside an open jug of Gatorade powder. All of this happened during about 10 minutes of it sitting in my Glencairn.

  • This is another fantastic release of Remus Repeal Reserve. But what do you expect when the company that others go to for their product releases their own pick of barrels? It is going to be something special. I highly recommend getting a bottle of this year’s release if you like a bourbon with a bit of spice to it.

  • Standalone without expectations or assumptions from prior releases, Remus Repeal Series 6 is a fantastic bourbon that provides a vibrant, fruity, and sweet experience that still has the darker oaky influence from all that older bourbon in the blend.

  • Nose:

Notably unique from the previous chapter, this release from Remus shows off heavy apply pie, toffee and pipe tobacco on the nose.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate, apples and stewed fruits combine with ginger, cinnamon, clove and orange peel. Great viscosity, proofed right on once again. Almost too easy to drink despite the richness, this honey and fruit bomb continues to impress and show that each chapter of Remus has its own personality.

  • Finish:

Long finish, heavy on the tobacco, honey and caramel candies. A pang of apple pie sneaks in before it's gone for good.

  • Overall:

Really unique stuff, and it's an incredible release once again from Remus. These have caught on recently, becoming harder than ever to find and it's clear to see why this is the new reality of Remus.
