Remus Repeal Reserve’s shifting nature has been an interesting journey, but I can’t help but wish my impression of it at its zenith had been my impression of it from start to finish. Change” being this whiskey’s only constant is interesting, but keeps it from securing a higher score.

House Review
Nose:
Big bold and rich, loaded with brown sugar, maple, sweet toffee and an unassuming but welcome cherry pie note.
Taste:
Rich on the palate, plenty of oak and spice, a surprising amount of clove, ginger, blackberries, toffee and cherry. Viscous and satisfying, 50% is a great proof point for this release, and there's no shortage of decadent dessert flavor here.
Finish:
Long finish. Waning between spicy and fruity, sweet and dry with oak tannins. Opulent, interesting, long lived.
Overall:
Really delicious hitter landing from Remus on this release. My only regret? No backup on the shelf to speak of.
