The second annual Gatsby release from MGP's Remus brand, this is a blend of two bourbons (the first with a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley mashbill, the second containing 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley). This is bottled at a very low (for cask-strength) proof of 98.1.

Black pepper and root beer on the nose, sweet maple and a solid wallop of oak. Nicely structured with a lot going on.
Moderate palate — nice viscosity but not syrupy. Caramel, honey, tobacco and a hint of black tea. Nice and rich with a hint of root beer.
Long finish with tons of toffee, oak, caramel candies, root beer and a bit of black tea.
This year’s Gatsby Reserve is a bold and oaky pour. It’s not the brashest, the hottest or the boldest, but there’s tons going on. It leans into this old-school, MGP-style profile without being dominated oak. Great stuff.
