  • Quite hard-edged in the end, it’s a truly unique experience and a bit of a tough nut to crack — even with the addition of copious amounts of water.

  • Really nice release here. It’s not too oaky or dry to enjoy, and it shuns the bitterness of other extra-aged releases. It’s bold and spicy, although I wish it was a touch more balanced.

  • It’s easy to get carried away with superlatives, but the fact is that the 2024 release is incredibly delicious.

  • Nose:

Big oak and spice, honey, toffee, tobacco and pralines. Maple, cake batter, strong spice and oak.

  • Taste:

Rich and sticky on the palate, heavy sweetness from clove, maple, brown sugar, vanilla bean and a touch of cocoa. Heavy, spicy, decadent. It’s not too bitter or drying and has heaps of oak in a satisfying way.

  • Finish:

Long finish, dry and cherry driven with cola, cocoa, tobacco and toffee.

  • Overall:

Really nice release here. It’s not too oaky or dry to enjoy and it shuns the bitterness of other extra aged releases. It’s bold and spicy, although I wish it was a touch more balanced. For the crown jewel of the Remus portfolio, it could be more rounded, and honestly, I’d dial up the profile a bit, but that’s just me.
