  • Somehow, I found myself wishing simultaneously to get both more Port influence and less from this whiskey — less sweetness on the attack, more on the finish.

  • At 46 percent ABV, the mouthfeel is silky and delightfully unctuous, with drying tannins bringing nuance to its long finish.

  • Nose:

Sweet honey, rich red berries, toffee, cloves and some jammy, creamy strawberries and cream. Like a parfait with some caramel. Light oatmeal.

  • Taste:

Moderate palate. Toffee, black cherry, strawberries and cream, raspberry and a hint of currant and vanilla bean.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Sweet oak, pepper, clove, ginger, a light graham cracker, strawberries and cream and some apricot.

  • Overall:

Lovely stuff albeit not the most complex. The palate is a but thin, but overall, it’s pleasant, complex and easy drinking.

  • Score:

    85
